Uporabnost

Uporabnost is a Slovenian noun describing the quality of being useful or usable. It derives from the verb uporabiti ("to use") with the abstract-noun suffix -nost. In everyday language, uporabnost refers to how well something serves a purpose in real life, including practicality, reliability, and value for users or buyers.

In design and technology, uporabnost is often used as a synonym for usability, particularly in human–computer interaction. It covers how easy a product is to learn, how efficiently tasks can be completed, how well it prevents errors, and how satisfied users are with it. Uporabnost testing and user research inform improvements.

Beyond digital products, uporabnost describes the usefulness of tools, services, or processes in everyday work and life. A product with high uporabnost helps people accomplish goals with minimal effort, time, and cost; low uporabnost implies that it is awkward, unreliable, or impractical.

Economically, the usefulness of a product or service affects demand, pricing, and adoption. Accessibility and inclusivity are often considered aspects of uporabnost, ensuring that more people can use or benefit from a product.

While related, usefulness and usability are not identical: usefulness refers to the overall value a product provides, whereas usability focuses on the interaction quality between user and system. Both concepts guide design, evaluation, and decision making.
