Unstrap
Unstrap refers to the action of detaching or releasing something that has been secured by a strap. Straps are flexible bands used to hold, fasten, or carry objects. Examples include seatbelts in vehicles, backpack straps, or the straps on luggage. To unstrap something means to undo the fastening mechanism of the strap, allowing the object to become free. This can involve unbuckling, unvelcroing, uncinching, or otherwise disengaging the strap's securing element. The process of unstrapping is generally the reverse of strapping. It is a common action in everyday life, whether it's unstrapping oneself from a seatbelt before exiting a car, unstrapping a backpack to take it off, or unstrapping a lid from a container. The specific method of unstrapping depends on the type of strap and its fastening mechanism. The term can also be used metaphorically to describe a release from restraint or obligation, though its primary meaning relates to the physical act.
