Uesugi
Uesugi refers to a historic Japanese samurai clan (upper middle class noble family) traditionally traced to the Seiwa Genji line of the Minamoto clan. The Uesugi rose to prominence in eastern Japan during the Sengoku period, with their power and influence centered in Echigo Province, in what is now Niigata Prefecture. The clan also had cadet branches that held lands in other regions, notably in the Kantō area, and several branches played significant roles in regional conflicts across the period.
