Ubiquinone-8, also known as Coenzyme Q8 (CoQ8), is a form of ubiquinone in which the isoprenoid side chain consists of eight repeating units. Like other ubiquinones, it is a lipophilic benzoquinone that resides in cellular membranes and plays a role in redox chemistry within the lipid bilayer.

Function and role in metabolism: Ubiquinone-8 acts as a mobile electron carrier in the respiratory chain. It accepts electrons from Complex I (or II in some organisms) and transfers them to Complex III, contributing to the proton motive force that drives ATP synthesis.
