UVClähteitä

UVClähteitä refers to sources of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation that falls within the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and X-rays, with wavelengths ranging from 10 nanometers to 400 nanometers. These sources can be natural or artificial.

The most prominent natural UVClähteitä is the sun. Solar UV radiation is divided into three categories: UVA, UVB, and UVC, based on wavelength. UVA has the longest wavelength and penetrates the atmosphere, reaching the Earth's surface. UVB radiation is partially absorbed by the ozone layer but still reaches the surface and is responsible for sunburn and vitamin D production. UVC radiation, with the shortest wavelength, is almost entirely absorbed by the ozone layer and does not typically reach the Earth's surface.

Artificial UVClähteitä are numerous and used in a wide array of applications. These include germicidal lamps, which emit UVC radiation primarily at 254 nanometers to disinfect water, air, and surfaces by damaging the DNA of microorganisms. Blacklights, which emit UVA radiation, are used for fluorescent effects in entertainment and for detecting counterfeit currency. Tanning beds utilize artificial UV lamps to induce a tanning response in the skin. Medical and therapeutic applications also employ UV lamps for treating skin conditions like psoriasis and jaundice, and for phototherapy. Certain industrial processes, such as UV curing of inks and coatings, also rely on UV light sources.
