UVBsäteilylle

UVBsäteilylle refers to the exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation, which is a component of sunlight that has varying effects on living organisms. UVB radiation has a shorter wavelength than ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet C (UVC) radiation. The biological effects of UVB radiation are mostly related to its ability to cause the synthesis of Vitamin D in skin cells.

UVB radiation also plays a role in the process of erythema, which is the reddening of the skin caused by sun exposure. Short-term exposure to UVB radiation can cause temporary redness, itching, and blistering of the skin, a condition known as sunburn. Overexposure to UVB radiation is the main cause of non-melanoma skin cancers, such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.

In addition to its effects on human health, UVB radiation also affects other living organisms. It is essential for the synthesis of Vitamin D production in birds and other animals that do not have a sufficient amount of UVA-absorbing molecular structures, called porphyrins.

The excessive exposure to UVB radiation is often associated with increased ozone particle generation in the stratosphere, caused by human-made halogens, such as chlorine and bromine. UVB radiation also is the most significant contributor to the photodegradation of atmospheric pollutants. The Earth's ozone layer reduces the impact of UV radiation by about 94-97% for wavelengths shorter than approximately 350 nanometers.
