UV5R

UV5R is a compact, dual-band amateur radio transceiver designed for portable and mobile operation. Released by the Chinese manufacturer Baofeng, it is part of the UV-5R series, which gained popularity among hobbyists and emergency communicators due to its affordability, lightweight design, and versatility. The UV5R operates on both the Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) bands, covering frequencies from 136 to 174 MHz (VHF) and 400 to 520 MHz (UHF), making it suitable for two-way communication over short distances.

One of the key features of the UV5R is its dual-band capability, allowing users to transmit and receive on both VHF and UHF simultaneously. It supports FM voice communication and includes a built-in 1280 MHz GPS module, which enhances its functionality by providing location data and time synchronization. The transceiver also features a programmable memory bank with 128 channels, enabling users to store frequently used frequencies for quick access.
