UH1Y

The UH-1Y Venom is a twin-engine, medium-lift utility helicopter designed and manufactured by Bell Helicopter for the United States Marine Corps. It is part of the H-1 upgrade program, which also produced the AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter. The UH-1Y is a modernization of the widely used UH-1 Iroquois, commonly known as the "Huey." Significant upgrades include new engines, a strengthened airframe, and a modern avionics suite.

The Venom shares a common tail boom, rotor system, and transmission with the AH-1Z, which simplifies logistics and maintenance for both aircraft. This commonality allows for a greater degree of parts interchangeability between the two types of helicopters, reducing operational costs. The UH-1Y is capable of a wide range of missions, including troop transport, cargo resupply, search and rescue, close air support, and medical evacuation. It is equipped with a glass cockpit and is designed to operate in various environmental conditions. Its armament can include door-mounted machine guns or grenade launchers for self-defense and offensive support. The UH-1Y Venom represents a significant leap in capability over its predecessors, enhancing the operational flexibility and survivability of Marine Corps aviation assets.
