Türöffners

Türöffners are devices used to remotely unlock doors. They are commonly found in apartment buildings, office complexes, and other locations where access control is managed from a central point. The basic principle involves a mechanism that releases the latch or bolt of a door lock when activated by an electrical signal.

There are several types of Türöffners. The most common are electric strikes, which replace the standard strike plate on a door frame. When energized, the electric strike retracts a part of its mechanism, allowing the door to be pushed or pulled open. Another type is a magnetic lock, often referred to as a maglock. These consist of an electromagnet mounted on the door frame and a corresponding armature plate mounted on the door. When energized, the magnet holds the door shut. Releasing the electrical current disengages the lock. Solenoid bolts are also used, where a bolt is extended and retracted by a solenoid.

The activation of a Türöffner can be triggered by various systems. This includes intercom systems in residential buildings, where a resident can press a button to unlock the main entrance for a visitor. In office settings, they can be integrated with access control systems using keycards, fobs, or biometric scanners. Security personnel might also control Türöffners remotely.

Safety and security are key considerations in the design and installation of Türöffners. Fail-safe Türöffners unlock when power is lost, which is often a requirement for emergency exits. Fail-secure Türöffners remain locked when power is lost, providing a higher level of security for the premises. Proper wiring and integration with other security systems are crucial for their reliable operation.
