Többindításos is a Hungarian term that translates to "multi-start" in English. It is most commonly used in the context of mechanical engineering and design, particularly when referring to threaded fasteners like screws and bolts.

A multi-start thread is characterized by having more than one continuous helical path that engages with a mating thread. This is in contrast to a single-start thread, which has only one. The number of starts is typically indicated by a small number next to the thread designation. For example, M8 x 1.25 - 2 starts would denote a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 8mm, a pitch of 1.25mm, and two starts.

The primary advantage of a multi-start thread is its ability to achieve a greater axial displacement with each full rotation of the screw or nut. If a thread has 'n' starts, the axial advance per revolution is 'n' times the pitch. This makes multi-start threads useful in applications where rapid linear motion is required, such as in certain types of jacks, lead screws, and actuators. However, they can be more complex to manufacture and may have reduced tensile strength compared to single-start threads of the same nominal size due to the reduced thread engagement area.
