Tõeväärtustuste refers to the truth values assigned to propositions or statements. In logic and mathematics, a proposition is a declarative sentence that is either true or false, but not both. These two possible states, true and false, are known as the truth values.

The concept of truth values is fundamental to propositional logic, which deals with the relationships between propositions and how they can be combined using logical connectives such as "and" (conjunction), "or" (disjunction), "not" (negation), and "if...then" (implication). The truth value of a compound proposition is determined by the truth values of its constituent propositions and the specific logical connective used.

For example, if proposition P is true and proposition Q is true, then the conjunction "P and Q" is also true. However, if either P or Q is false, then "P and Q" is false. Similarly, the disjunction "P or Q" is true if at least one of P or Q is true, and false only if both are false. The negation of a proposition reverses its truth value; if P is true, then "not P" is false, and vice versa.

Truth tables are a common tool used to systematically represent all possible combinations of truth values for the propositions involved and the resulting truth value of the compound proposition. This systematic approach helps in analyzing logical arguments and determining their validity. The assignment of truth values is a cornerstone of deductive reasoning.
