Tändningsfel

Tändningsfel refers to a malfunction within a vehicle's ignition system. This system is crucial for initiating the combustion process that powers the engine. When a tändningsfel occurs, it can lead to a variety of symptoms, often affecting engine performance and drivability.

Common causes of tändningsfel include issues with spark plugs, ignition coils, distributor caps and rotors (in older vehicles), ignition modules, or the crankshaft/camshaft position sensors. A faulty spark plug might not generate a strong enough spark, or it could be fouled, preventing proper ignition. A failing ignition coil can result in a weak or absent spark for one or more cylinders. Problems with sensors can disrupt the timing of the spark, leading to misfires.

Symptoms of tändningsfel can range from a rough idle and hesitation during acceleration to complete engine failure to start. You might notice a check engine light illuminated on the dashboard, or an engine that sputters and backfires. In some cases, fuel efficiency can also be negatively impacted as unburned fuel escapes the combustion chamber. Diagnosing tändningsfel typically involves inspecting ignition components, checking for diagnostic trouble codes using an OBD-II scanner, and testing individual parts for proper function. Repairing a tändningsfel usually involves replacing the faulty component.
