Työturvallisuuskortti

A työturvallisuuskortti, often translated as a safety passport or safety card, is a common requirement in Finnish workplaces, particularly in construction and industry. It signifies that the holder has completed a basic safety training course and understands the fundamental principles of occupational safety and health. The training covers essential topics such as risk identification, hazard prevention, safe working practices, emergency procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment.

The työturvallisuuskortti is typically issued by accredited training providers. The training itself is usually a one-day course, delivered either in person or online. Upon successful completion of the course and a short assessment, the participant receives a physical card and often a digital certificate. The card usually contains the individual's photograph, name, and the expiry date of the training.

The validity of a työturvallisuuskortti is generally for five years. After this period, a refresher course is required to maintain its validity. Employers commonly request to see a valid työturvallisuuskortti as a prerequisite for allowing an individual to work on their site, especially if the work involves potential hazards. It serves as a standardized way to ensure a baseline level of safety awareness among workers, contributing to a safer working environment for everyone.
