Työpäivissä refers to the concept of a working day in Finnish. It encompasses the period an individual spends engaged in their professional duties, typically on a regular basis. The duration and structure of a työpäivä can vary significantly depending on the profession, industry, and individual employment agreement. In Finland, the standard full-time working week is generally considered to be 37.5 hours, distributed across five working days.

However, many Finnish workers experience variations in their työpäivissä. Flexible working hours, or "liukuva työaika," are common, allowing employees some discretion in choosing their start and end times, as long as core hours are met and the total weekly hours are completed. Shift work is also prevalent in sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and retail, leading to työpäivissä that may fall during evenings, nights, or weekends. Part-time employment, or "osa-aikatyö," means a työpäivä is shorter than full-time, and the number of working days per week might also be reduced.

The Finnish labor market is characterized by strong worker protections and collective bargaining agreements, which often define the specifics of a työpäivä, including maximum daily and weekly hours, rest breaks, and overtime regulations.
