Turbinenjets

Turbinenjets, also known as jet engines, are a type of reaction engine that discharges a fast-moving jet of fluid to generate thrust in accordance with Newton's third law of motion. The most common type of turbinenjet is the gas turbine engine, which is widely used in aircraft propulsion.

A gas turbine engine works by compressing incoming air, mixing it with fuel, and igniting the mixture. The resulting hot, high-pressure gas expands rapidly and is expelled through a nozzle at the rear of the engine, creating thrust. This process involves several key components: an intake, a compressor, a combustion chamber, a turbine, and a nozzle. The compressor increases the pressure of the incoming air, the combustion chamber is where fuel is burned, and the turbine extracts energy from the hot gases to drive the compressor.

Turbinenjets are characterized by their high power-to-weight ratio, efficiency at high speeds, and ability to operate at high altitudes. They are essential for modern aviation, powering everything from small business jets to large commercial airliners and military aircraft. Variations of the turbinenjet include turbojets, turbofans, turboprops, and turboshafts, each optimized for different applications and performance characteristics. Turbofans, for instance, are the most common type for commercial aviation, utilizing a large fan at the front to bypass a significant amount of air around the core engine, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise.
