Tupiniquim
Tupiniquim refers to a group of indigenous peoples historically inhabiting the coastal regions of Brazil, particularly in the states of Bahia and Espírito Santo. They are part of the larger Tupi linguistic family. The Tupiniquim were among the first indigenous groups encountered by European explorers upon their arrival in Brazil in the 16th century. Their traditional territories were characterized by Atlantic Forest ecosystems.
Historically, the Tupiniquim were known for their agricultural practices, cultivating crops like manioc, corn, and beans.
Over centuries, the Tupiniquim population and territories have been greatly impacted by colonization and subsequent development.
