Tuon

Tuon is a fictional character in the Wheel of Time series, created by Robert Jordan and continued by Brandon Sanderson. She is introduced as Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag, Daughter of the Nine Moons, a title used by the Seanchan emperors to denote legitimacy and divine favor. She is the heir to the Seanchan throne and later becomes Empress Tuon of Seanchan.

She originates from the Seanchan Empire, a militaristic civilization that travels across the Aryth Ocean. Tuon grows up within the imperial court and is educated in governance, diplomacy, and the rituals of Seanchan statecraft. Across the series she travels outside her homeland as Seanchan influence intersects with realms such as Andor and the White Tower. Her arc explores conflicts between Seanchan customs and other cultures, including the system that uses channelers who are controlled as damane.

Tuon remains a central figure in the later books, interacting with a range of protagonists and shaping imperial policy, military strategy, and diplomatic relations. Her leadership and decisions influence how the Seanchan respond to events in the wider world, including tensions between tradition and changing political landscapes. By the end of the published canon, Tuon has assumed the role of Empress, guiding the empire through a period of transition in a world unsettled by the Dragon Reborn and the Last Battle.
