Tulostuspohjia

Tulostuspohjia, also known as printing plates, are essential components in the printing process, particularly in offset lithography and letterpress printing. They are typically made of metal, such as zinc or aluminum, and are coated with a light-sensitive material called a photopolymer. This material hardens when exposed to light, creating a relief image that corresponds to the design to be printed.

The creation of a tulostuspohja begins with a digital file of the design, which is then converted into a film positive. This film is used to expose the photopolymer-coated plate. The unexposed areas of the photopolymer remain soft and can be etched away, leaving the hardened areas to form the relief image. The plate is then inked and used to transfer the image onto paper or other substrates during the printing process.

Tulostuspohjia are reusable and can be cleaned and reused multiple times, making them a cost-effective option for high-volume printing. However, they require careful handling and storage to prevent damage and ensure the longevity of the printing process.
