Tubulointerstitsiaalsete
Tubulointerstitiell refers to a type of kidney disease that affects both the renal tubules and the interstitium, the spaces between the tubules. This condition can arise from various causes, including infections, autoimmune disorders, and exposure to certain medications or toxins. In tubulointerstitial diseases, the functional units of the kidney responsible for filtering waste and reabsorbing essential substances are damaged. This damage can lead to impaired kidney function and, if left untreated, can progress to chronic kidney disease or even kidney failure. Symptoms can vary widely depending on the cause and severity but may include changes in urination, fatigue, swelling, and high blood pressure. Diagnosis often involves blood and urine tests to assess kidney function and identify specific markers of inflammation or damage. Kidney biopsy may also be performed to confirm the diagnosis and determine the extent of tubulointerstitial involvement. Treatment strategies are aimed at addressing the underlying cause of the disease, managing symptoms, and slowing the progression of kidney damage. This might include antibiotics for infections, immunosuppressants for autoimmune conditions, or discontinuing offending medications. In severe cases, dialysis or kidney transplantation may be necessary.
