Tsüanoakrylaatti

Tsüanoakrylaatti refers to a group of chemical compounds that are commonly known as super glues or cyanoacrylates. These substances are fast-acting adhesives that form strong bonds when pressed between two surfaces. The polymerization process, which creates the strong bond, is initiated by the presence of moisture, typically from the air or the surfaces themselves.

The chemical structure of tsüanoakrylaatti monomers features a cyano group (CN) and an acrylate group (CH2=CHCOOR), where R is an alkyl group. The most common type used in consumer products is ethyl tsüanoakrylaatti. When these monomers come into contact with a nucleophile, such as water, the double bond breaks, and the molecules link together to form long polymer chains. This rapid chain reaction results in the hardening of the adhesive.

Tsüanoakrylaatit are widely used for their bonding capabilities on a variety of materials including plastics, rubber, metal, and wood. They are valued for their quick setting time and high tensile strength. However, their use can also lead to accidental bonding of skin and other tissues, necessitating careful handling. In industrial applications, they are employed in electronics manufacturing, automotive assembly, and medical device production.
