Träfiberskivor, often referred to as fiberboard, are engineered wood composite materials manufactured from lignocellulosic fibers, typically from wood. These fibers are combined with a binder or resin and then pressed into panels. The process involves breaking down wood into its constituent fibers, which are then mixed with adhesives. High pressure and heat are applied to form dense, uniform sheets.

There are several types of träfiberskivor, primarily distinguished by their density and manufacturing process. Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is a common type, characterized by its smooth surface and uniform density. High-density fiberboard (HDF) is even denser and stronger. Low-density fiberboard, also known as particleboard or chipboard, is made from larger wood particles and is less dense and strong than MDF or HDF.

They are also found in construction for applications like interior doors, moldings, and subflooring. Their smooth, consistent surface makes them ideal for veneering, laminating, and painting.
