Tryckdrivet

Tryckdrivet is a term used in Swedish engineering to describe a drive system powered by pressurized fluid that converts fluid pressure into mechanical work. It encompasses hydraulic drives, using incompressible liquids such as oil, and pneumatic drives, using compressible gases such as air.

Principle: A pump or compressor supplies fluid at high pressure to an actuator such as a cylinder or vane motor. The fluid pressure acting on a piston or rotor produces force and motion. The system may include accumulators, reservoirs, hoses, and valves to regulate pressure, flow, and direction. Energy can be transmitted over short or long distances with flexible lines and remote control.

Advantages: High force and torque at low speeds, precise linear or rotary motion, good overload protection, electrical isolation between the power source and driven load, and versatile control of motion and force.

Disadvantages: Energy losses through heat and leakage, dependence on fluid cleanliness, potential environmental risk from leaks, and higher upfront cost and maintenance requirements compared with some alternative drives.

Applications: Industrial automation, presses, machine tools, mining and construction equipment, robotics, and various automation tasks where controlled force and motion are required.
