Tripack

Tripack is a packaging format consisting of three units of a product packaged together in a single unit. Also referred to as three-pack, triple-pack, or trio-pack, the tripack is used across a range of consumer goods, including beverages, snacks, batteries, cosmetics, and household products. It is commonly employed to encourage trial, provide convenience, or offer a discount relative to buying three individual units.

Formats and design vary. Tripacks may appear as a single outer package containing three items, or as three items held together by shrink wrap, a blister pack, or a rigid carton. The packaging may be designed for easy opening, stacking, or shelf visibility and can incorporate branding, freshness indicators, or usage instructions. In some cases, inner packaging allows individual items to be separated for use while retaining a single outer pack for shipping and display.

Market considerations and sustainability concerns influence tripack use. Multipacks can lower the effective price per unit and simplify restocking for retailers, while also increasing product assortment on shelves. Critics point to potential increases in packaging waste and environmental impact if three-pack designs are not recyclable or if unused items contribute to overconsumption. Some jurisdictions and retailers encourage or require recyclable materials and optimized packaging sizes to balance convenience with sustainability.
