Trimestritele

Trimestritele are periods of three months used to partition time in various domains. The concept is based on the idea of dividing a year into three-month blocks, and in many contexts the year is organized into four trimestres or can be aligned with the familiar four quarters of a calendar year. While a common mapping places the first trimester from January to March, the second from April to June, the third from July to September, and the fourth from October to December, exact boundaries can vary by country, organization, or purpose.

In education, a trimester system divides the academic year into three terms. Each trimester typically lasts about 10 to 14 weeks, and courses may be completed within a single trimester or span multiple trimestres. Some institutions use a semester system instead, while others operate on a hybrid or flexible schedule that combines trimesters with shorter breaks.

In medicine, the term trimester is most commonly associated with pregnancy, referring to three successive stages: the first, second, and third trimesters. Each stage roughly covers a third of gestation, guiding prenatal care, screenings, and fetal development milestones. The trimester framework helps clinicians coordinate appointments and tests across pregnancy.

In other contexts, trimestres are used for budgeting, reporting, or project planning based on three-month intervals. This three-month cadence can differ from quarterly reporting if a system uses trimesters that do not align precisely with calendar quarters.
