Trepikoda

Trepikoda is a lesser-known traditional dance form originating from the coastal regions of the Indian state of Kerala. The term "trepikoda" is derived from the Malayalam words *trep* (meaning "to dance") and *koda* (meaning "group" or "company"), collectively referring to a communal dance practice. This dance is primarily associated with the fishing communities and is often performed during festivals, harvest celebrations, and other communal gatherings.

Trepikoda typically involves rhythmic footwork, hand gestures, and synchronized movements performed in a circular formation. The dancers, usually men, wear traditional attire such as a *mundu* (a lower garment) and a *veshti* (a draped cloth), often paired with a *kettuvazhi* (a type of headgear). The dance is accompanied by traditional percussion instruments like the *chenda* (a type of drum) and *elathalam* (a pair of cymbals), which provide a lively and energetic backdrop.
