Trapung

Trapung is a fictional town and municipality in the northern highlands of the continent of Sileria. The name Trapung is of uncertain origin; local tradition links it to phrases meaning “three peaks” and “river bend.” The town is set in a sheltered valley at about 1,100 meters above sea level and is bounded by eucalyptus forests and terraced fields. The climate is temperate with cool winters and warm summers, and the surrounding landscape features the Trapung River, small waterfalls, and mountain trails.

Historically, Trapung developed as a trading stop on regional routes in the late medieval period. It grew as an agricultural and craft center, with a monastery established in the 16th century that remains a religious and cultural landmark. In the modern era, Trapung has municipal status within the province of Kharun and is governed by a mayor and a 10-seat council.

Demographically, the municipality is home to about 9,000 residents, predominantly of the Trapung ethnic group who speak the Trapung language alongside the national language. The economy relies on agriculture (barley, rice), small-scale manufacturing, and regional tourism centered on the monastery, scenic overlooks, and hiking trails.

Culturally, Trapung hosts an annual Harvest Festival and a midwinter market. Notable landmarks include the Trapung Monastery, the Old Bridge, and the Valley of Echoes. Education is provided by a secondary school and a technical college.
