Transzkríciós

Transzkríciós is a Hungarian word that refers to the transminority and their allies protesting and organizing against transphobic and discriminatory attitudes. This movement has particularly gained momentum after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Transzkríciós is seen as a vital component in the broader context of the LGBTQ+ rights movement and specifically in the trans rights movement.

The term 'transzkríciós' roughly translates to 'trans-revival' or 'trans-resurgence'. This concept encompasses the renewed focus on trans rights, and struggle against the exclusion of trans individuals from various spheres of society. It has a strong connection to the social struggles of the early 20th century in Hungary when generally rights for marginalized groups increased during and after WWI.

The movement has, however, gained special attention in the past few years. It is highly extensive, inclusive, and group-driven. Transzkríciós emphasizes the linkage of hard-line anti-discrimination policies with inclusive education. Young, urbanized groups, specifically those centered in Budapest, are seen as a dominant driving force behind this movement.
