Torktumlarna

Torktumlarna, which translates to "Turkish whorls" in English, are a type of trommel used in traditional Turkish coffee set. They typically consist of a small, shallow, and cylindrical container with a series of ridges or whorls on its interior surface. The torktumlarna is primarily used to separate the coffee grounds from the liquid, making it an essential component in the traditional Turkish coffee-making process.

The torktumlarna's unique design allows for effective separation of the coffee grounds from the liquid. When the user carefully draws the liquid up from the bottom of the container, most of the liquid passes through, leaving the grounds behind. The device's feature of having a small gap in its design, and the inserted 'filter' in the top, allows for an efficient creation of layers, facilitating that the cooler coffee can be drawn underneath without disturbing the sediment remaining above.
