Toimivust is a Finnish term used in information technology to describe a website that is fully functional and reliable. The word is a compound of toimiva (functional) and sivusto (site), and in practice refers to a site that enables users to complete tasks with minimal friction and without frequent downtime. Although not an official technical standard, the concept is commonly discussed in web design, development, and accessibility contexts as a synthesis of usability, performance, accessibility, security, and maintainability.

Key characteristics include: usability and accessibility (conforming to WCAG where applicable); fast and predictable performance (low latency, Core Web Vitals like LCP, FID, CLS); responsive and cross-device compatibility; reliable availability and error handling; secure design (HTTPS, input validation, protection against common threats); privacy and data protection; maintainable code and content that is easy to update; standards-based, semantic markup and progressive enhancement.
