Types and features include standard, scented, quilted, textured, and coreless variants. Some products use recycled content, mixed fibers, or premium softness. Consumer choices are influenced by thickness, plies, fragrance, and price.

Environmental considerations include the resource footprint of forestry, energy and water use, and chemical processing. Recycled-content and bamboo-based options can reduce impact. Flushability claims are debated, as many products labeled flushable do not perform well in plumbing or sewers and may contribute to blockages; disposal often depends on local guidance.
