Tiverton
Tiverton may refer to several places, most prominently Tiverton, a market town in Devon, England, on the River Exe. It is the administrative centre of the Mid Devon district and lies in a rural setting between Exeter and the Exe Valley. The town developed in the Middle Ages as a wool and trade centre and retains a historic streetscape centered on the market square. Notable landmarks include Tiverton Castle, a Norman fortress overlooking the town, and the parish church of St Peter. The nearby Grand Western Canal, opened in the 19th century, connected Tiverton with Taunton and broadened trade; today much of the canal forms part of the Grand Western Canal Country Park.
