Imam Abu Isa Muhammad ibn Isa al-Tirmidhi, commonly known as Tirmidhi, was a prominent Persian Muslim scholar, hadith compiler, and jurist of the 9th century. Born in 824 CE in Tirmidh (modern-day Turkmenistan), he was part of the Ash'ari school of thought and is best known for his extensive work in collecting and categorizing hadith, the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad.
