It denotes a construct in which two or more predicates must hold within a defined time window for the overall expression to evaluate to true. The term is a portmanteau of time-based and and, reflecting its combination of temporal qualification with a logical AND.

In practice, timebasedand allows expressions such as "Condition A occurs and Condition B occurs within five minutes of Condition A." This makes it possible to model patterns that depend not only on the presence of events, but also on their temporal relationship. The operator is commonly implemented in domain-specific languages for query and event processing, stream processing frameworks, and rule engines.

Semantics typically require both that the individual conditions are satisfied and that their occurrences fall within the specified window. Depending on the system, the window may be anchored to event time or processing time, and may be strict or sliding. Consider performance considerations, since tracking temporal relations can incur memory and computation overhead, especially in high-throughput streams or with late-arriving data.

Timebasedand variants may include different window shapes (fixed, tumbling, hopping) and may combine with other temporal operators such as time-based OR. While not a standardized term, it is used in discussions of CEP and advanced query languages to clarify temporally bound conjunctions.
