Tilinpäätöslaskelmat

Tilinpäätöslaskelmat, often translated as financial statements, are a set of documents that present a company's financial performance and position over a specific period. In Finland, these are a mandatory requirement for most businesses, providing crucial information for stakeholders such as shareholders, creditors, and tax authorities. The primary tilinpäätöslaskelmat include the income statement, the balance sheet, and the cash flow statement.

The income statement, known as the tuloslaskelma, shows a company's revenues, expenses, and ultimately its profit or loss over a fiscal period. It details how much money the company has earned and what costs it incurred to generate that income. The balance sheet, or tase, offers a snapshot of a company's assets, liabilities, and equity at a specific point in time. Assets represent what the company owns, liabilities what it owes to others, and equity the owners' stake in the company. The fundamental accounting equation, Assets = Liabilities + Equity, always holds true on the balance sheet.

The cash flow statement, or rahoituslaskelma, tracks the movement of cash into and out of the company. It is divided into three sections: operating activities, investing activities, and financing activities, providing insights into how the company generates and uses its cash resources. Together, these financial statements offer a comprehensive overview of a company's financial health and operational efficiency.
