Tiivikvoolumõõdik

Tiivikvoolumõõdik, also known as a vane anemometer, is an instrument used to measure wind speed. It consists of a rotor with several cups or vanes that spin when exposed to moving air. The speed of rotation of the rotor is directly proportional to the wind speed. As the wind blows, it pushes the cups, causing the rotor to turn. A mechanism within the device, often a small generator or an optical sensor, translates the rotational speed into an electrical signal. This signal is then processed and displayed as a wind speed reading, typically in units like meters per second, kilometers per hour, or miles per hour. Tiivikvoolumõõdikud are widely used in meteorology for weather forecasting and climate research, as well as in aviation, sailing, and agriculture for monitoring wind conditions. They are known for their relative simplicity, durability, and cost-effectiveness, making them a common choice for basic wind speed measurements. While generally accurate, their readings can sometimes be affected by factors such as icing or debris accumulation on the cups, which can impede rotation.
