The term "thesidium" originates from the Greek words *thesis* (meaning "place") and *sima* (referring to deep or hidden features), reflecting its enigmatic and often inaccessible nature. These formations are characterized by intricate, honeycomb-like rock structures composed of layered sedimentary deposits, typically limestone or dolomite, with a distinctive white or pale yellow hue.
