Thermidor refers to a period in the French Revolution, specifically the events that led to the downfall and execution of Maximilien Robespierre and his allies. This period is named after the month of Thermidor in the French Republican Calendar, which corresponds to July 19 to August 17 of the Gregorian calendar. The coup that ended the Reign of Terror occurred on 9 Thermidor, Year II of the Republic (July 27, 1794).
