Inputs and outputs: users provide prompts, scripts, or structured descriptions, along with parameters like duration, frame rate, resolution, and style. Some systems support voice, sound design, or narration to accompany the video. The output is a sequence of frames rendered to video, often with optional audio tracks and metadata.

Applications: text-to-video is used for rapid concept visualization in film and advertising, educational content and explainer videos, accessibility aids, synthetic media for training and simulation, and creative exploration or previsualization. It can assist with storyboarding, mood testing, and experiment-driven production workflows.

Limitations and challenges: current systems vary in fidelity, controllability, and factual accuracy. They raise concerns around bias, safety, copyright and licensing, and potential misuse. High computational requirements and dependence on large datasets can limit accessibility. Ongoing research focuses on improving realism, controllability, and responsible use.
