Termopililämpömittarit

Termopililämpömittarit, also known as thermopile thermometers, are a type of non-contact temperature measurement device. They operate on the principle of the Seebeck effect, where a voltage is generated in a conductor when there is a temperature difference across it. A thermopile is essentially a collection of thermocouples connected in series. Each thermocouple consists of two dissimilar metal wires or semiconductors joined at two junctions. When the junctions are at different temperatures, a small voltage is produced. By connecting many such thermocouples, the cumulative voltage is amplified, making it easier to measure.

These thermometers are widely used for measuring the infrared radiation emitted by an object. All objects with a temperature above absolute zero emit thermal radiation. The intensity and spectral distribution of this radiation are dependent on the object's temperature and its emissivity. A thermopile thermometer detects this emitted infrared energy, converts it into an electrical signal, and then processes this signal to determine the object's surface temperature. They are particularly useful for measuring the temperature of remote or inaccessible objects, moving objects, or objects that are too hot or too fragile to be touched by a conventional thermometer. Applications include industrial process control, medical diagnostics, and environmental monitoring.
