Tellins
Tellins are a genus of small, edible saltwater clams belonging to the family Tellinidae. These bivalve mollusks are found in marine sediments worldwide, commonly inhabiting sandy or muddy bottoms of intertidal zones and shallow subtidal areas. Tellins are characterized by their typically ovate or oblong shells, which are often brightly colored and ornamented with concentric lines. The two valves of the shell are usually equal or nearly equal in size and shape.
These filter feeders play a role in the marine ecosystem by sifting organic matter from the water
Many species of tellins are harvested for human consumption, prized for their delicate flavor and texture.
