Teiseste

Teiseste is a small municipality and village in the eastern part of the fictional country of Nordmark. Located on the shores of Lake Vist, it combines agricultural land with forested hills and a modest shoreline. The municipality covers about 42 square kilometers and has a population around 1,150 as of 2023. The administrative center is the village of Teiseste, where the municipal council and mayor's office are located.

Teiseste's earliest settlement dates to the 12th century. The name is of Old Norse origin, and the area was historically part of a feudal estate. Agriculture and forestry drove the local economy through the medieval and early modern periods. Teiseste gained formal municipal status in the 19th century and expanded with the introduction of a small mill and later road improvements.

The terrain is gently rolling, with farmland interspersed by patches of mixed forest. The eastern shore of Lake Vist supports wetlands along the shoreline.

Today, Teiseste relies on dairy farming, crop production, and small-scale manufacturing. The service sector and commuting to larger towns account for a growing share of employment. Tourism related to nature trails and the lakeside scenery contributes seasonally.

Cultural and historic sites include Teiseste Church, a 13th-century structure with a late Gothic nave, and Teiseste Manor House, a 17th-century building used as a cultural center. The town hosts an annual harvest festival and a midsummer market.

Teiseste is governed by a municipal council elected for four-year terms. It belongs to Nordmark's eastern district and participates in regional planning and services through inter-municipal cooperatives.
