Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, commonly known as Technion, is a public research university located in Haifa, Israel. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the region and a leading center for science, engineering, and technology.

The Technion was established by Jewish communities in Ottoman Palestine with support from international donors and became a degree-granting institution in the 1920s. It has grown into a comprehensive research university with faculties spanning engineering, sciences, architecture and town planning, medicine, and management, and it houses research institutes and technology-transfer facilities.

The university is known for its strengths in computer science, chemical and materials engineering, biotechnology, life sciences, and nanotechnology. It maintains close collaboration with industry and the high-tech sector, supporting startups through incubators, accelerators, and the Technion Research and Development Foundation. The Rambam Health Care Campus is among its teaching affiliates for medical education.

Technion's campus, or Technion City, sits on a hill overlooking Haifa and hosts a range of research centers, student facilities, and public programs. The institution collaborates with universities worldwide on joint degree programs, research projects, and exchange arrangements, contributing significantly to Israel’s technology ecosystem and scientific output.
