Tapahtuvassa

Tapahtuvassa is the inessive singular form of the present active participle tapahtuva, derived from the verb tapahtua meaning “to happen” or “to occur.” The participle describes something that is taking place or is in the process of occurring. As a modifier, tapahtuva can attach to nouns to form phrases that convey the sense of an ongoing or current event or situation.

The word follows the standard Finnish participle/adjective declension. In the inessive it becomes tapahtuV-ssa/-ssä, yielding tapahtuVassa

Usage notes: Tapahtuva is relatively formal and common in written Finnish, especially in descriptions of events,
