Tanmlarken

Tanmlarken is a small protected natural area situated in the municipality of Alingsås in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. Established in 1998, the reserve covers approximately 12 hectares of mixed woodland, meadow, and wetland habitats. The name Tanmlarken derives from the historic farmstead of Tanm, which occupied the site until the early twentieth century, combined with the Swedish word “larken,” meaning a clearing or meadow.

The landscape of Tanmlarken is characterized by a mosaic of old-growth birch and pine stands, interspersed

Management of the reserve is overseen by the county’s environmental authority, which implements a low‑intensity grazing

Tanmlarken forms part of a larger network of green spaces that link urban environments with rural landscapes
