Tammalla

Tammalla is a former municipality located in Finland, in the region of Pirkanmaa. It was founded in 1877 and abolished on January 1, 2009, as part of a municipal reorganization that created the new municipality of Tuulos. As of its dissolution, Tammalla had a population of approximately 1,700 people. The area of Tammalla is primarily agricultural in nature, with the majority of land used for farming and animal husbandry. The terrain is flat to gently rolling, with an average elevation of around 100 meters above sea level.

Tammalla had a relatively small municipal budget and a simple administrative structure. The town had one primary school, a church, and several stores and services in the local village. The nearest city, Mantta-Vaara, was approximately 20 kilometers east of Tammalla.

The area's history dates back to the Middle Ages, with archaeological evidence suggesting human presence as far back as the Stone Age. Prior to its existence as a separate municipality, Tammalla was part of the larger Oripää municipality. The area was once a significant producer of iron and charcoal in the 18th and 19th centuries, although this industry declined by the early 20th century.

Today, Tammalla is no longer a distinct municipality, with its former territory merging into the municipality of Tuulos in 2009. While its municipal identity is defunct, the area remains a rural community characterized by its agricultural heritage and natural landscapes.
