Tamangs
The Tamangs are an ethnic group indigenous to the Himalayan regions of Nepal and India. They are one of the most populous ethnic groups in Nepal, primarily residing in the central and eastern hilly districts. The Tamang language, which belongs to the Tibeto-Burman language family, is spoken by the community and has various dialects. Historically, Tamangs have been known for their martial prowess and were famously recruited into the Gurkha regiments of the British and Indian armies.
Their traditional societal structure is organized into clans and lineages, with strong emphasis on kinship ties.
