Talossas
Talossas is a micronation founded on January 2, 1977, by Jay D. Johnson, who adopted the title of Prince John. Located within the town of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Talossas claims sovereignty over an area of approximately 5.3 square miles. The micronation has its own constitution, laws, and a parliamentary system. It issues its own stamps, currency, and driver's licenses, which are primarily for symbolic or novelty purposes among its citizens. Talossas has a distinct language, Talossan, a constructed language developed by R. Ben Madison, and a coat of arms. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to join, and it has a small but dedicated following worldwide. The micronation's activities are largely focused on cultural and recreational pursuits, with an emphasis on self-governance and the pursuit of unique national identity. Talossas has no territorial claims outside of its designated area in Minnesota, and its existence is not recognized by any sovereign states. It represents an interesting example of a modern micronationalist movement.
