TalleyrandPérigord, born Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord, was a French diplomat, politician, and statesman who played a significant role in European and French history during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was born on September 2, 1754, in Paris, France, into a noble family.

TalleyrandPérigord's political career began in the French Revolution, where he served as a deputy in the National Convention. He quickly rose to prominence for his oratory skills and political acumen. He was a strong advocate for the principles of the Revolution and played a crucial role in the execution of King Louis XVI. However, his support for the Reign of Terror led to his eventual downfall, and he was briefly imprisoned.

After his release, TalleyrandPérigord went into exile in England, where he served as the French ambassador to the Court of St. James's. His diplomatic skills and political insights earned him the respect of British leaders, including William Pitt the Younger. He returned to France in 1797 and resumed his political career, serving as the French ambassador to the Court of St. James's once again from 1801 to 1807.

During the Napoleonic era, TalleyrandPérigord served as the French foreign minister from 1813 to 1814 and again from 1815 to 1821. He played a pivotal role in the Congress of Vienna, where he helped shape the political landscape of Europe after the Napoleonic Wars. His diplomatic efforts were instrumental in maintaining the balance of power and preventing another major conflict.

TalleyrandPérigord's later years were marked by a decline in his political influence. He retired from public life in 1821 and spent his remaining years in relative obscurity. He died on May 17, 1838, in Paris, France.
