Takaisinkytkentäjärjestelmä, commonly known as a feedback system, is a mechanism where the output of a system influences its input. This allows the system to adjust its behavior based on its own performance, aiming to maintain a desired state or achieve a specific goal.

There are two main types of feedback: negative feedback and positive feedback. Negative feedback works to counteract changes and stabilize the system. For example, a thermostat in a room senses the temperature and turns the heating on or off to keep it within a set range. This is a negative feedback loop because the output (temperature) is used to oppose deviations from the desired input (set temperature).

Positive feedback, on the other hand, amplifies changes, leading to an exponential increase or decrease. While less common for regulation, it plays a role in processes like blood clotting or the amplification of signals in biological systems. In many technological applications, positive feedback can lead to instability if not carefully controlled.

Feedback systems are ubiquitous in nature and technology. They are fundamental to control engineering, where they are used to design systems that can operate reliably and adapt to changing conditions. Examples range from simple mechanical devices to complex biological organisms and sophisticated industrial processes. The core principle remains the same: using the system's output to inform and modify its input, thereby creating a dynamic and responsive mechanism.
