Tagalog-Filipino refers to the language spoken primarily in the Philippines, particularly in the region known as Tagalog-speaking areas, which includes the National Capital Region (NCR), Metro Manila, and parts of Central Luzon, Central Visayas, and Mindanao. It is one of the eight official languages of the Philippines, alongside Filipino (a standardized form of Tagalog), English, and various regional languages.

The Tagalog language is a part of the Austronesian language family, specifically within the Malayo-Polynesian subgroup. It is closely related to other Philippine languages such as Ilocano, Bicolano, and Waray-Waray, as well as languages spoken in neighboring Indonesia and Malaysia. Filipino, the national language of the Philippines, is based on Tagalog and is used in education, media, and government communications.
